Every fault code for this Rheem gas furnace with a 7-segment IFC display is below, with what it indicates and a verdict: whether you can safely check it or it is a call for a technician. Here the code shows on a 7-segment display. The source is Rheem's own service manual. Confirm your model is on the list; other Rheem controls use different codes.
Before any code: if you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm is sounding, this is not a diagnostic exercise. Leave the house and call from outside. What to do about a gas smell or a CO alarm.
How to read the display
These Rheem and Ruud furnaces show two-digit fault codes on a single 7-segment display, not a flash count. A steady "0" is standby, and a letter (C, H or F) shows the current mode — cooling, heating or continuous fan — which is normal, not a fault. A two-digit code is shown one digit at a time: the first digit for one second, then the second digit for one second, then a pause, repeating. So "22" is a 2, then a 2. Some conditions alternate two codes, such as 10 and 11 together for an ignition lockout. Ruud furnaces use the same control; confirm the code list against the label inside your furnace.
What each code means
Each code carries a safety verdict. Caution means there is a check you can safely make; pro-only means the correct repair is certified work and we do not walk through it here.
10 — One-hour lockout (soft lockout)
One-hour lockout (soft lockout)
The control has stopped trying and will wait about an hour before resuming. On its own it is the lockout state; it is usually shown alternating with the code that caused it — 11 for failed ignition, 13 for lost flame, 14 for unexpected flame — so read the companion code to know why.
What you can do: Note the other code shown with it and read that entry. You can reset once by cycling the thermostat, but a lockout that returns is telling you the underlying fault is still there.
11 — Failed ignition

The furnace tried and failed to light. After four failures in a row the control enters the one-hour lockout (shown as 10 alternating with 11).
What you can do: Confirm the gas is on and the filter is clean, then reset once. If it still will not light, the igniter, flame sensor or gas supply is a technician's diagnosis.
12 — Low flame sense
Low flame sense
The flame is lit but the current the flame sensor reports is below the level the control needs. It usually means a dirty or mispositioned flame sensor.
What you can do: Cleaning a flame sensor is combustion-side work this site does not walk through. It is usually a short technician visit.
14 — Unexpected flame
Unexpected flame
The control sensed flame when there should be none. Because it can mean a gas valve that is not fully closing, it is not a wait-and-see code.
What you can do: Call a technician. If you also smell gas, leave and treat it as the emergency at the top of this page.
22 — Main or auxiliary limit open
Main or auxiliary limit open
A limit switch opened because the furnace got too hot. As with any limit trip, the leading cause is not enough air moving across the heat exchanger.
What you can do: Replace a dirty filter and open blocked vents — that is the common cause and the safe fix. If it returns with a clean filter, the limit or blower needs a technician.
26 — L1 and neutral reversed
L1 and neutral reversed
Line and neutral are reversed at the furnace, and it will not run for heat until corrected. On a newly installed or serviced furnace this points back at the wiring.
What you can do: Line-voltage wiring is for an electrician or the installer.
33 — Rollout switch open — a combustion safety trip
Rollout switch open — a combustion safety trip
The rollout switch opened, meaning burner flames were not being drawn into the heat exchanger properly and rolled back toward the burners. This is a safety trip, and the furnace locks out for a reason.
What you can do: Do not keep resetting a rollout to run the furnace. It points at a blocked heat exchanger, a venting problem or a combustion fault a technician must find first.
34 — Induced draft motor overcurrent
Induced draft motor overcurrent
The induced draft (inducer) motor is drawing more current than it should, which points at a failing motor or an obstruction in it.
What you can do: An inducer motor is a technician's diagnosis and replacement, not a homeowner part.
56 / 57 — Pressure switch open when it should be closed
Pressure switch open when it should be closed
A pressure switch did not confirm closed during operation — code 56 for the ignition switch, 57 for the combustion switch. The usual causes are a blocked vent or flue, a blocked condensate drain, or a weak inducer.
What you can do: Clear the outdoor intake and exhaust terminations of snow, leaves or a nest. The condensate drain and the inducer are a technician's diagnosis.
61 — Blower fault
Blower fault
The control expected the indoor blower to run and could not confirm it. It often appears with a limit code because a furnace that overheats from a stopped blower trips its limit.
What you can do: A blower that will not run is a technician's diagnosis. Do not keep forcing heat calls while this shows.
71 — Inducer fault
Inducer fault
The induced draft motor did not run as expected. Without the inducer establishing draft, the furnace cannot safely light.
What you can do: The inducer and its wiring are a technician's diagnosis.
93 — Control fault
Control fault
The integrated furnace control has diagnosed its own internal fault. The manual reaches this only after other causes are ruled out.
What you can do: Replacing the control is a technician's job, and a good technician confirms the other causes are ruled out first.
97 — Gas valve circuit fault
Gas valve circuit fault
The control detected a fault in the gas valve circuit. Anything involving the gas valve and its wiring is certified work.
What you can do: This is a gas-side electrical fault for a qualified technician. There is no homeowner action.
